I Bracco’d It

I have wings why?

In between banging my thumb with a hammer and putting together my new closet this weekend I decided to settle down with my buddy Michael Bracco’s Novo books. I love this series and I can’t wait to pick up the latest one (just released). (He allso just did an All-Ages GN called Adam Wreck.)

This sketch isn’t of any of the characters but I can definitely see the influence of his style in it.

Also, he’s a Baltimore boy. So, local economy and all that.

Better than the real thing

BOOGA!

Started keeping a completely non- Hello with Cheese sketchbook today. My coworkers brought it back for me from a paper show. I really have no idea why I started on the cover instead of the first page. It just needed it.

This little piggy went to Woot.com

Fly, fly away...

Ok, so your first though was probably, “wow, Bryan’s getting lazy.” And my only response is, “what do you mean getting?”

But seriously, what you see above is the very rough concept sketch of dern’s and my first submission in the woot.com t-shirt derby. Subject: Flight. If you have a woot account feel free to head on over and give us some voting love (if you like it, of course). Otherwise, just head on over to woot to check out the final illustration.

The curse of stubby legs

You have to come down from there eventually!

If you have a dog and a cat I have a feeling you have dealt with this yourself. Haven’t you? Coraline has taken to perching herself on the furniture and taking swipes at Frances.

Poor cat doesn’t even realize Frances is just biding her time.

At least it is cute

My coworker thinks I've seen too many scrubbing bubbles commercials.

I little step back into the I-don’t-know-where-this-came-from today. But it’s cute, so I’ll post it.

Ode to Swine Flu

Squeal into the light.

We are all a little sick (no pun intended) of hearing about Swine Flu here at work. Really, I already wash my hands and don’t agree with the over-use of antibacterials but I digress. This morning my coworker Paul and I tag-teamed and replaced the pig mascot (no, really) with a baked ham and dearly departed. FYI – I’m not the cook but I’m sure you figured that out.

I can only hope the hype goes the same way.

Bring on the Snow

Yodel and I keel you.

Some days it is fun just to put my pen to the paper, without a prior pencil sketch, and see what happens. Today this is what happens. I’m calling it a yeti but, y’know, whatever you see there is fine, too. Just in cast yetis aren’t your thing.

If you are into the abominable-ness you must check out The Abomminable Charles Christopher. You’re welcome.
