Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Hey, it’s that time again. Episode 4 of Frances & Friends episode is now available at Clickwheel.net. This time around we welcome a brand new character to the mix.

Wish he could’ve gotten a better reception.

And, once again, here is the direct link to the downloadable PDF. I am nothing if not accommodating. I’m curious, how many of you use the PDF link and how many go over to ClickWheel?

In Dot We Trust

I was not planning on doing a post today. I figured it is Memorial Day, I’m allowed to take it off. However, after meeting some excellent cartoonists this weekend I was inspired to make some goof off art today, which you see above.

What you see above are the characters from the comic In His Likeness (by James Hatton) done in Sculpey. Except for the orange and white dot. I just had to do a Frances dot. Had To.

I highly recommend checking out James’ comic. It is funny, irreverent and addicting. I’m actually quite jealous of how entertaining he can make frikkin’ circles.

If the 3d approach intrigues you (and you like pirates) I’m going to also suggest you check out Dear Pirate. I got a chance to hang out with Darren, the creator and all around cool dude, this weekend and I hope to be doing so even more (official time, house-to-house: 12 minutes).

Imagine This

Above is a little bit of fan art for my most recent comic discovery. A week or two ago I stumble upon Imagine This a cool little Mon-Fri webcomic. I’m so new to it I can’t even tell you the names of the characters I’ve drawn with out looking them up (Dewey & Clovis, BTW) but I love it.

The archives aren’t very long, so I suggest starting at the beginning.

Any comics out there you all think I should give a try?

Meet Winston

Winston Sample

So, as I said yesterday, here is a little sample of my new project Winston (short for Winston Millicent Delano). I am limited on what I can show you because I only have so many done that are not in line to possibly be included a future issue of iNKED.

He is a … precocious … little man.

Plans for this property are currently up in the air. What is currently in the works is upping my involvement in iNKED by increasing the number of Winston panels per issue. I am also hoping to turn out some Winston books but we’ll see how it goes.

Not the Cat’s Meow

So I’ll fully admit, this is not my favorite drawing, why am I showing it to you… honestly I’m not really sure. Probably because when I do show you my new cat character I want you to se how bad it could’ve been. Perhaps I will show you later this week.

Where’s the feather?

Dumbo

I love Disney movies so of course if I look at a running basset I think of one of two things: Either Toby from the Great Mouse Detective or any scene of Dumbo flying. This panel is one of the first four I drew when I was trying to figure out if I wanted to wander back into Bassetville or not. It works well enough, not necessarily funny but cute. I like cute. I think I do it well.

How the?

terrarium

I’m not really sure what influenced this panel. Maybe it was purely from the new home my wife convinced me to buy the real Zulli. He had been living in an outfitted under-the-bed storage container. Now he has his own big ol’ terrarium. He is much happier now but Frances can no longer stick her nose in.

Maybe that is why he is happier.
