Yeah, it’s been a while and it may still be a while still until I get back into doing this regularly but … I have been listening to a bunch of my coworkers talk about their kids heading back to school. It’s no big shocker then that this wormed its way out of my head and onto a notepad. So I figured I’d share.

I miss having a lunchbox with a thermos. Those were cool.

Yesterday was my birthday so… yeah. I guess I’m contemplating mortality today. Fun.

I am hot and uncomfortable this morning. So, of course, my random squiggle of the day leads me to drawing a snow beasty of some sort. Talk about overcompensation.

Ok, so this one comes with a story.

I discovered Tuesday that my buddy Tee had offered up my services for… something. After a little link clicking I found that J.R. Blackwell was requesting an illustration based on the last panel of this comic. The need for said illustration was quickly handled by another artist but I just couldn’t get the premise out of my head. So voila! You get the sketch above.

Now I’ll admit it right up front, this drawing has some issues and I’ll be giving it another go to try to get it right some time in the future. However, there is just something about the expression that won’t let me not post this one.

Hey, it’s a good enough way to start my Tuesday.

So today is the first day of the new Hello with Cheese artist and since I don’t think I’ve mentioned him here before I wanted to make sure I did. I really like what I’ve seen of O’s work. I have yet to make it through Commissioned‘s archive but I very much like his work and sense of humor. I think it is a perfect fit for dern and HWC. I’ve sneaked a peek so I know some of what he is bringing to the table and it is pretty awesome.

His first HWC comic went up this morning and while it is a work of art, be warned you can not un-see it. Also be sure to pop over to Commissioned to see how he and dern came to an understanding as to the terms of their partnership.

Ok, I’m feeling a little more like my good ol’ self today. Which, to some extent, means I feel like a merc for hire due to the fact that my final day on Hello with Cheese is coming up. Sounds like a good enough excuse for a sketch to me.
