So ever since announcing the Saturday Scribbles I’ve done what? 2, maybe 3 on time. Maybe?

Anyway, one of the big reasons is the prep work going into the new comic. The other reason is I am getting a piece together for the BROOD Ramble this year. Unlike my usual entries for their fundraisers this time I decided I really needed to add color to this year’s drawing (not pictured above). What is pictured above is one of my first..studies? Basically I need to teach myself how to color with something besides Photoshop, my crutch. I’ve decided on the cartoonist standby, watercolor. I’m getting better. I’ll let you decide for yourselves. As I do more studies/tests I’ll post them for you to see until I show you the actual piece that will be up for auction.

Since I missed the Saturday Scribble this weekend here is a little two-fer for today. A lot on my plate this Monday so it is best I get to it.

This week’s scribble was my first (unsuccessful) attempt at creating badge art for the Upcoming convention, Balticon. The second an third attempts were much better and hopefully you will see them on various other guests’ sites in the coming future. But for now, feel free to point and laugh.

I did a few of these on cardboard sketches last weekend at Katsucon while I was behind the table. I’ll pull out the other 2 at some later point.

I think I’m ready for spring.

Whoopsie… I’ve been pending all morning and afternoon doing things around the house I forgot to post today’s scribble. About the usual start to a Saturday project as I would expect.

Anyway, today’s scribble is my take on the character Ami from The Glass Urchin. I met the real life Ami last year at Balticon before she had started her interesting take on the journal comic. So go on give it a read and just in case you can’t tell, that is a hedgehog in a scarf, carrying a book bag, talking on a cell phone.

So during the week I’ve been, for the most part, doing the daily sketch digitally. I’ve realized that I have a ton of little sheets of paper all over the place left over from my 4×4 days. So I figure I’m going to try to start doing some quick sketch deals to start posting Saturday’s. We’ll see how long it lasts but what the heck, why not. Only rules will be draw, scan, resize. That’s it.
