Rockin’ The Game Plan

bulldog

Friday was our annual blood drive at work. I got to watch most of two movies while I worked it and gave myself. One, Rocky Balboa… was a much better movie than I was expecting. Of course, I am the demographic. The lunchroom was completely devoid of estrogen except for the few women that were working the drive.

The second movie (and inspiration for the sketch) was The Game Plan starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Very cute and obviously the preferred choice of the phlebotamists. Especially considering they had me put the move BACK in after Rocky.

Something tells me it wasn’t for the story.

I think the dogs name was Spike.

He wore a tutu.

Oye, I’m Draggin…

What do you mean, it’s not Monday? Sure as heck feels like it to me.

Good news though is I had a good (long) weekend. Got some work done on Saturday (the initial F&F cartoon is coming along nicely). Watched some football on Sunday (I cheered for the Giants, who knew). Watched some hockey on Monday (ugh).

Now, I need to go find some coffee.
I may not even brew it, just stick it under my lower lip.

Weekend Go “Puff”

I’ve been at work for 2 hours and our computer servers are finally up so I need to get to work. Oddly enough this morning is reminiscent of how my Saturday started. Just replace “computer servers” with “12-year old Civic”.

My Poor Wife

pillow

First off, thanks to everyone for the feedback yesterday. Now on to today, more specifically this morning… I am an early bird. I wake up at 5:00 during the week and usually by 7:30 on the weekends. During the week it is my choice, weekends it is the four-legged furry wonder’s. My wife, she’s not quite as much of a fan of pre natural light hours so during the week I try to be as considerate as possible while I’m getting ready for work. Lights on only in the bathroom and closet. Try very hard to be quiet…

Frances is not nearly as accommodating.

As far as I know she stays quite while I go through my bathroom routine but as soon as I sneak back into the room to get dressed she stats Talking. (Yes, capital “T”.) “Daddy, I’m hungry.” “Aren’t you ready yet?” “Where’s my tummy rub?” and so on, and so on…

No, the wife hasn’t thrown a pillow at her yet but I gotta tell you, I’m waiting for the day.

Etiquette

Moron

Have you ever done something that you absolutely despise? I have. Did it yesterday actually.

I read a post over at the Daily Cartoonist about 5 web strips to drop your paper for. One of the strips was PvP, a genuinely funny strip that if you’ve heard of me I’m sure you’ve heard of it. I found in the article what I thought was a funny correlation between the article, the strips and my life.

I used to read PvP and stopped (for some reason, I think it was because it didn’t update at a regular time and I’m highly scheduled). Anyway, since then I have actually started reading the paper on my way to work during the week. For whatever reason I decided to point this funny little irony out in the comments. Wish, I hadn’t because “Funny, I stopped reading PvP and started reading the paper.” looks like nothing more than a troll-ish comment. (Add to that I only signed Bryan and the rules of the site clearly say First and LAST names.)

So sure, I apologized. I’ll man up. That doesn’t stop me from feeling like a tool.

Heck, I’ve even got a signed Skull plush sitting next to my computer at home. Sheesh.

UPDATE: I took Maureen’s suggestion, e-mailed Scott and I’ve been told, “Don’t every worry about it for a second.” I shall now do just that.

Posting Expectations

Wow-oh-wow am I liking where the revamp of the Bassetville characters is going. It is, however, taking a lot of time. A lot of time during the holiday season. Add to that I have a lot of thinking to do. What am I trying to say? Basically that I am going back on random for a little bit.

That and not every post will contain art. I’m going to need to ramble now and again. It will hopefully keep me as close to sane as possible.

Not that sane and I have ever been on a first name basis but I digress.

Family Dog Friendly

I have had quite a week. Here are a few things I’ve learned.

1. only a handful of you followed Broken Muzzle over to the new site. (link withheld on purpose)

2. this blog’s traffic has actually picked up (guess you like the doggies)

3. riding the metro to and from work can be an interesting experience. Y’all I’ve been riding the subway to work everyday since I moved to Maryland and this week has been by far the most…eventful? Did you know PSPs could play porn? Yeah, learned that little nugget this morning.

Ew….

There is more to the week but I’m done numbering. Yeah, lazy. Anyway… “Bassetville” got some serious shots in the arm this week from a number of different sources. It’s still sore BTW.

There are still things to work out and new skill sets to learn so I won’t say much. What I will say is that I’m reigning in the horses (I hope that was the right word/phrase). I am also committing myself to once again being an all-audience cartoonist so broken muzzle is done, kind of.

The broken muzzle cartoons will be coming back to this blog. There are still quite a few left it is just that quite a few of them won’t get posted. I’ve been a bad boy.

As for the new Bassetville panels, they will continue but I will have to see where they go. What you will see along with them is a little more of is prep work for the new direction. Character sketches, redesigns maybe some style experimentation. Good stuff.

I am so flippin’ excited!
