Table Cruising Explained

No really, it can happen. Trust me.

People are always amazed when I tell stories of Frances stealing food from the table. I’ve heard from other basset and bagel (bagle) owners that they get the same reactions. Really it all comes down to big dog, stubby legs. The math is there, all they need is the motivation (and food is the greatest hound motivator).

Learning Curve

growing pains, don't judge me... or judge away if you want. That is actually the point, I guess.

Quick on the heals of getting new equipment I’ve decided to get a new program to start playing in (Painter 11). Admittedly I have no idea what I am doing in it and for the moment I am just playing around. Funny that my instinct for just playing around is to start drawing bassets again. Old dogs, new tricks and all that…

Oof… sorry about the pun.

PS. While I’m sure I am back from Ravencon by now (I scheduled this before I left) I’m sure I am asleep. I’ll probably post about it later in the week.

Doggone good start to the week

If you are keeping your nose to the ground you might consider this a clue.

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn Frances so I thought that would be a good way to start the week. I like how she has developed into the new style. Good times.

The curse of stubby legs

You have to come down from there eventually!

If you have a dog and a cat I have a feeling you have dealt with this yourself. Haven’t you? Coraline has taken to perching herself on the furniture and taking swipes at Frances.

Poor cat doesn’t even realize Frances is just biding her time.

Another Missed update

Trees are very interesting to a basset. No really. Leave me alone.

So ever since announcing the Saturday Scribbles I’ve done what? 2, maybe 3 on time. Maybe?

Anyway, one of the big reasons is the prep work going into the new comic. The other reason is I am getting a piece together for the BROOD Ramble this year. Unlike my usual entries for their fundraisers this time I decided I really needed to add color to this year’s drawing (not pictured above). What is pictured above is one of my first..studies? Basically I need to teach myself how to color with something besides Photoshop, my crutch. I’ve decided on the cartoonist standby, watercolor. I’m getting better. I’ll let you decide for yourselves. As I do more studies/tests I’ll post them for you to see until I show you the actual piece that will be up for auction.

When in Doubt, Post a Basset

Awrooooooo...

So this morning my alarm decided not to go off, at all. I had an hour and a half late start to the day so I have to skip doing a sketch this morning. Luckily I’ve got plenty of drawings laying around like this one. This little fella was drawn as a possibility for the Make-Your-Own option of the Metal for Monsters fundraiser (sans color). Since I’m probably not going to end up using him as my final choice he gets a second chance by saving my bacon today.

Mmmm, bacon (yeah, I skipped breakfast, too).
