Pick one: Star Wars, Blade Runner, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Dune.

There was no explanation except that I didn’t feel that worrying about what version of a movie or whether I meant the book or movie mattered for my means. Just pick one. The winner by a not so surprising margin was Star Wars.

Now the reason was to pick what order the first 4 posts of my new project. What is that project?

Well… I guess if you are here and you read the title you already know the reason. I’m going to spend 2012 making weekly desktops based on various properties. They’ll be posted here and if you see one you like it will be available for download in, more often than not, 4 sizes; Widescreen (1680×1050); Standard (1600×1200), Phone (320×480); & Tablet (1024×1024).

Today’s sketch was done for my buddies, Nick & Marty while they were working on an old comic, Art Fight High School. But since that is a bit in the past what I’m going to focus on is what they stopped doing AFHS for. A little project called

I have to admit you all aren’t going to get anything new from me this week as I deal with some real life stuff. So instead I thought I’d introduce you to something awesome one of my friends is doing.

My buddy Jamie Noguchi has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for his first plush toy, Puppy Cow. Now you’ve probably heard me plug Jamie before when he was the artist for Erfworld: Book 1 or when he started his new comic Yellow Peril (he is also one of the guys behind SuperArtFight). The way Kickstarter works is a creator sets a monetary goal to reach in a certain amount of time and consumers, like you, pledge at certain levels with various bonuses provided by the creator. If the goal isn’t reached there is NO Charge. Nada. You only get charged if the drive is successful. I could try to explain more but really if you went to the site it would probably make more sense and give you more detail.

So if you would consider checking out Jamie’s Puppy Cow Plush project I would appreciate it. And as you will see on the site, under backers or updates, I’ve put my money where my mouth is.

So here it is, my final day on HWC. I’d love to tell you I have something profound planned to take its place but that is just not the case. Do I have plans? Sure… but I’ve watched (and had) too many plans fall through to start announcing them now.

What I will say is that I have talked to some other creators and have some collaborations in the works. Both in comics and book illustration. What will come of them we will have to see. And who knows, maybe I’ll be pitched the next big thing tomorrow and I have no idea yet.

But for now, a little vacation.

In news not related to the sketch above at all: dern announced my two weeks notice over at HWC last night. As of June 4th I will no longer be the artist of Hello with Cheese. (More on that later.)

Today’s sketch is a colored version of an illustration for the guy’s at Ravencon (where I’ll be this weekend). So if you happen to be in Richmond, VA swing by and say, “Hi.”
