Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween people.

I started mine by trying to watch last night’s SyFy original, Red: Werewolf Hunter. Sheesh, I only made it halfway through. But at least it spurred me into sketching something this morning. So I guess it wasn’t a complete loss.

world’s 579th greatest rapper

So last weekend was SAF9 (I won BTW). The musical guest was MC Frontalot, a well known Nerdcore rapper. Prior to the show my only exposure to MCF & Nerdcore was the documentary Nerdcore Rising. While an interesting film it wasn’t enough to get me to really look into this genre of music. I could see why my friends were into it but didn’t think it would be for me.

Yeah.

Then I saw MC Frontalot put on a show and I LOVED it. (Yes, all caps.) I’m no wordsmith so I’m not going to try to do it justice but here are the basics. The music was GOOD. The performers (bass, keyboards, drums & MCF) all had awesome chemistry and energy to spare. Finally, I could understand everything he was saying (the words if not the meanings) without having any prior knowledge of the lyrics. Now THAT is cool.

As for the illustration itself, since I saw Frontalot at a SAF event I decided to limit my colors to the markers we use as part of the show. You might also notice a slight change in line weight from earlier sketches. Well, that’s because I’m finally sitting down and getting used to my new Cintiq. I like it.

Summer’s out for School

Yeah, it’s been a while and it may still be a while still until I get back into doing this regularly but … I have been listening to a bunch of my coworkers talk about their kids heading back to school. It’s no big shocker then that this wormed its way out of my head and onto a notepad. So I figured I’d share.

I miss having a lunchbox with a thermos. Those were cool.

Puppy Cow

I have to admit you all aren’t going to get anything new from me this week as I deal with some real life stuff. So instead I thought I’d introduce you to something awesome one of my friends is doing.

My buddy Jamie Noguchi has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for his first plush toy, Puppy Cow. Now you’ve probably heard me plug Jamie before when he was the artist for Erfworld: Book 1 or when he started his new comic Yellow Peril (he is also one of the guys behind SuperArtFight). The way Kickstarter works is a creator sets a monetary goal to reach in a certain amount of time and consumers, like you, pledge at certain levels with various bonuses provided by the creator. If the goal isn’t reached there is NO Charge. Nada. You only get charged if the drive is successful. I could try to explain more but really if you went to the site it would probably make more sense and give you more detail.

So if you would consider checking out Jamie’s Puppy Cow Plush project I would appreciate it. And as you will see on the site, under backers or updates, I’ve put my money where my mouth is.

Eeeeevil Hi-Five

Today’s WoD is from my buddy Nick: Darth Maul and Skeletor hi-five. As soon as I got this one I knew I had to draw it.

BTW, Nick has gotten back int the webcomic world recently. His new project is titled Oh Perilous World. If you are into horror/sci-fi/fantasy go on and give it a look.
