Ode to Swine Flu

We are all a little sick (no pun intended) of hearing about Swine Flu here at work. Really, I already wash my hands and don’t agree with the over-use of antibacterials but I digress. This morning my coworker Paul and I tag-teamed and replaced the pig mascot (no, really) with a baked ham and dearly departed. FYI – I’m not the cook but I’m sure you figured that out.
I can only hope the hype goes the same way.

Agreed – esp re: the anti-bacterial stuff (to protect against a virus?!).

Every year they whip up a scare factor on a flu. Get a vaccine, then everyone wants it but it isn’t available. Finally months pass and the officials complain they have vaccine going to waste as no one wants it. I work at an airport and the fear factor is there. The company I work for is handing out literature that has things in it that won’t work, the antibacterial hand wash on a virus and cloth surgical masks. TSA has it’s fear factor of security codes: Coward Yellow, Terror Orange and Oh My God We Are Going To Die Red. We’ll never see any other color unless the Lord returns and people will still be squealing into the light.
