Metro No-No

Very tired this morning and I’m not really sure why. I almost fell asleep during my ride into work today. I ride the metro so no one was in danger but… I really don’t like the idea of sleeping on the subway on my way into work. Something about public sleeping. Vulnerability. Meh, whatever.
Of course, it could have something to do with the time I fell asleep in Art History 101 and woke myself up by kicking a Snapple bottle down the concrete steps. (Prof. loved me that day.)
Any interesting asleep in public stories out there?

You need to take a lesson from Frances. Just take a nap whenever you feel the need.

sleeping on subways is a tradition in many countries! While living in Japan, I got pretty good sleeping standing up on a moving metro train. It does help that you are packed in the car with you and 3000 of your closest friends, so there really is no where to go anyway… ;-D

Never fell asleep on the metro. Did have a pervert next to me one time reading porn and making sure that I was completely aware of what he was reading. I wish I could have slept through that experience.

I can sleep anywhere at any time, and often fall asleep within seconds! When living in Pittsburgh, I saw my commute on the bus as an easy way to catch a nap, and I always woke up right before my stop.
Well…almost always. Once, I slept past my stop, and didn’t wake up until the end of the line WAY WAY past where I lived. I had no idea where I was, but had to get off the bus anyway. Luckily, a bus going the other way soon came by and took me home. I had a very strange conversation with a teenaged girl who was pregnant for the 2nd time and asking my advice! All I could say was “I’m an accountant! You need a therapist….”
I have a friend who travels from Baltimore(ish) to DC every day, and not only sleeps on the train, but brings a pillow and blanket!

Eh, sleeping on the subway is a time-honored morning commute privelege. In Boston on my early days, at least half of any given train was nodding off in the AM.
