Musically Delicious

A quick little sketch today. I’ve been listening to Adele online this morning deciding if I want to buy her album or not (leaning towards buying). This is what came out while doing so. While by no means a portrait (and I wasn’t aiming for it to be) I am very happy with this sketch. I’ve got to make sure I don’t fall in the rut of just drawing one body type.

Also, I completely missed the fact that Onezumi put up a guest comic I did for her last month or so last week. It’s a little disturbing but if you’ve seen Temple of Doom you can handle it.

the society of failed supervillians: the Reconn

Ok, I wasn’t planning on doing another member of The Society of Failed Supervillains right away but Kara‘s character idea from yesterday was too funny not to draw.

Used to being easily thwarted by even the weakest hero (no super needed) the Society decided to invest in some pre-heist reconnaissance. Enter, The Canary. Prior to each job the Society (attempts) to pull they send in The Canary in to scope the joint out. Her power to fall dead in the general vicinity of anyone with a minute amount of ability lets them know to hightail it out and come back later to pick up her corpse. No one knows The Canary’s real name or where she came from. And no one really cares.

the society of failed supervillains: the Muscle

First off, thanks for the positive responses yesterday. Just goes to show it was the cool people that stuck with me.

Speaking of cool, last week I told you that I had gotten a cool sketch request but couldn’t get into it. Well looky above and you will see the beginning of The Society of Failed Supervillains! One of my new west coast Twitter friends, Inkgypsy, gave me the idea on the tail of all the Dr. Horrible hub-bub earlier in the month.

What you see above is the Society’s muscle, Strong Suit. Narcissistic by nature, SS spent hours in the gym but could never get as big as he wanted. After being caught in a freak explosion at the local GNC during his lunch break SS found he could finally lift more than he could ever imagine. But only when wearing the clothes he had on during the explosion.
And it gets all the credit.

You’re Gonna Hate Me

Ok, it’s official. Frances & Friends is going to a random update schedule. I’ve tried to write out an explanation a few times but I don’t like how it ends up sounding (ether like I’m whining or making excuses). It boils down to quality over quantity. I do cartooning on the side for the art of it. If I start pumping out lesser product just because I feel I have to it turns into a job and I won’t do that to myself again.

Just to be clear, there will be more Frances & Friends episodes. It’s just that life, work and professional development have aligned in such a way that I can’t promise that they will happen on any sort of regular schedule. Hopefully, there will be some other limited run projects as well but we’ll see how that goes.

I also want to thank ClickWheel for sticking with me during this switch.

PotW: Frances

Since I used one of my girls last week I decided I should use the other today. Just so it doesn’t look like I’m playing favorites. So here she is, the one and only, Frances.

Be sure to show her some caption love below so she doen’t think you’ve forgotten about her.

Last week’s winner:
PotW Coraline

“Hmm…too much geometry to figure out how to bounce this off both Bryan and Frances in one hit…” -Josh B

The PotW contest can only last so long without your help. So send those pictures of your pets to me here at potw@bryanprindiville.com.

Get with The System

Ok, so this looks really boring… and well, maybe it is when seen this way but trust me my buddy Rosscott adds a whole new level of funny on to international symbolatry (yeah, not a word).

His new comic, The System, uses international symbol signs / pictograms as its imagery and and it is hilarious. He only started up at the beginning of the month so you don’t have a lot of catching up to do (don’t worry about the recent start, I know he has a good buffer). Go check it out, it is already one of my daily reads. I’ve been itching to tell you about it since he gave me my first peek.

Just Scandalous

This morning was another one of those mornings that I needed a little kick start so I typed in “pose” on Google again to see what came up. This time around I got a different selection of poses and one in particular stood out. A woman in a chair. I thought I recognized it but couldn’t remember why.

It turns out the woman in the chair was Cristine Keeler whose name you may recognize if you are familiar with the Profumo Affair.

And, of course, I’m not happy with the likeness…
