Editorial Cartoons 09 May 2008 07:04 am

Avoiding the Issues

Here we are again. Another Friday, another editorial cartoon from myself and my new partner, David B. Coe. This time with, and you’ll have to agree, my best Obama yet.

Just remember, two consistent updates is a coincidence. Three is a fluke. Four or more and we are on to something.

This cartoon is a good example of working through a miscommunication. I didn’t interpret David’s text quite the way he intended but with a minor tweak to the artwork we ended up with something we are both happy with. Compromise people. Sign of a good working relationship.

Debatable Democrats

Well, since I am getting into the whole political cartoon vein with David I figured I should start working on my caricatures. I am really happy with some of the techniques I’ve used to create today’s sketch … I’m just not sure I’m happy with the likenesses. Hopefully, you aren’t having any difficulty with who I drew.

I’ve tried drawing Obama once before. Clinton too, come to think of it. What do you think? What do I need to work on?

Personally, I think they both feel too generic.

The Hunchback of my Mind

This.

This is what I come up with when I decide I want to draw something cute this morning? I’m having a worse week than I thought.

It’s like I ran Quasimodo, Frankenstein and Igor through a blender and Disney-fied it.

Lifting the Dead

After a week of being sick it felt REALLY good to get back to the gym last night. To celebrate returning to the land of the living I decided to teach myself a new workout, the deadlift. I like to switch it up every month anyway and this exercise has alway intimidated me. I’m happy to say that I made it through without any day after injuries.

How ’bout you all? After being sick (or maybe even just really busy) what is it you do that makes you feel like you’ve joined society again?

I am Iron Man

I finally felt human enough to get out of the house yesterday, so what did I do? Spent a couple hours in the local movie house watching Iron Man.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Potw: Abby

Today’s Pick of the Week, Abby, was picked for no other reason than this is how I felt all last week.

Time for the captions in the comments: Let ‘em have it.

Last week’s winner:
PotW Tucker

There is no Dana…only Zule! -The Wife

Yes, I’m biased. There is a reason she doesn’t usually play but come on, that was good.

The PotW contest can only last so long without your help. So send those pictures of your pets to me here at potw@bryanprindiville.com.

Rabbit Stew

As promised, Friday’s sketch pushed to Saturday. If you don’t recognize the character I’ve drawn today… all I can say is go check it out.

Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai is one of my favorite comic properties. A smartly written and beautifully illustrated look into feudal Japan. Don’t let the fuzzy bunny fool you. This series is a great read and deals with some heady subjects.
