Rock On Friday Rock On

Rocker

This one makes me giggle like a school girl groupie. One of the few things I miss from high school is the free time (and basement) I used to have which I often used to mess around in garage bands. Though, I was a drummer, not a guitarist.

BTW: The F&F wall was broken down yesterday and I am once again full steam ahead.

Break on Through

so close

Ugh, less than a month until I’m supposed to launch Frances and Friends and I’ve got cold feet. No motivation. I’ve done hit the wall.

Failure is always an option.

This is nothing new. It is always easier to pack up your ball and go home instead of playing the game that there is a good chance you will lose. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not whining or quitting. I’m just putting it out there for those of you that may be interested in what goes on in my creative process.

On an upbeat note, I am really digging this morning sketch routine.

Brufus the Bulldog

Brufus

After a brief diversion into Fan Art yesterday I have taken a step back to original work today. Above you get your first look at Brufus the Bulldog (or Boo-dog if you are a cheerleader). With a little bit of work he may just make it into the cast of characters of Frances and Friends (Clickwheel.net: March 11).

Brufus is the combination of two things from my youth. First, my high school mascot was a bulldog. Second, I have this wonderful ability to have the thoughts in my head become completely scrambled somewhere between my brain and my mouth. At one point I was talking the friend that would become my best man later on and in a conversation about wrestling (yes, dorks) I turned “Brutus the Barber Beefcake’ into “Brufus Barfus” without even noticing.

He hasn’t let me forget since.

Speaking of forgetting, don’t forget Hunter, this week’s PotW, he needs some more captions. And, btw, he is a black and tan beagle, not a Rottweiler.

Odd-Fish Lovecraft

Lovecraft

Last week I stumbled across a new webcomic / artist whose art I am completely head over heals for. What you see above is my version of the character Lovecraft the Octopus from the comic Odd-Fish. Odd-Fish is an off shoot of Phillip Blackman’s ball-point pen art site, Bio-art.

This guy’s stuff is crazy good. Some of his subject matter may not be everyone’s cup of tea but the wit and the technique it completely worth checking out.

PotW: Hunter

Hunter

This week’s PotW comes from one of my overworked coworkers, Kathie. She would like you to all meet her baby… Hunter!

Thank you all for getting last week’s captions started so splendidly. Once again, please leave all caption submissions in the comments below. Winning caption will appear in the first episode of Frances & Friends March 11.
